Cotton Yarn Prices In Southern India Remain Stable. Buyers Are Cautious Before The Federal Budget Is Announced

Mumbai and Tirupur cotton yarn prices remained stable, as buyers remained on the sidelines before the release of the 2023/24 federal budget.

Mumbai’s demand is stable, and cotton yarn sales remain at the previous level. Buyers are very cautious before the budget is announced.

A Mumbai dealer said: “The demand for cotton yarn is already weak. Because of the budget approaching, buyers are again away. The government proposal will affect the market sentiment, and the price will be affected by the policy documents.”

In Mumbai, the price of 60 pieces of combed warp and weft yarn is 1540-1570 and 1440-1490 rupees per 5 kg (excluding consumption tax), 345-350 rupees per kg of 60 pieces of combed warp and weft yarn, 1470-1490 rupees per 4.5 kg of 80 pieces of combed weft yarn, and 275-280 rupees per kg of 44/46 pieces of combed warp and weft yarn; According to TexPro, a market insight tool of Fibre2Fashion, the price of 40/41 combed warp yarn is 262-268 rupees per kilogram, and that of 40/41 combed warp yarn is 290-293 rupees per kilogram.

The demand for Tirupur cotton yarn is quiet. Buyers in the textile industry are not interested in the new deal. According to traders, the demand of downstream industries may remain weak until the temperature rises in mid-March, which in turn will boost the demand for cotton yarn clothing.

In Tirupur, the price of 30 pieces of combed yarn is 280-285 rupees per kilogram (excluding consumption tax), 34 pieces of combed yarn is 298-302 rupees per kilogram, and 40 pieces of combed yarn is 310-315 rupees per kilogram. According to TexPro, the price of 30 pieces of combed yarn is 255-260 rupees per kilogram, 34 pieces of combed yarn is 265-270 rupees per kilogram, and 40 pieces of combed yarn is 270-275 rupees per kilogram.

In Gujarat, the price of cotton has been stable at Rp 61800-62400 per 356 kg since the end of last week. Farmers are still reluctant to sell their crops. Due to the price difference, the demand of the spinning industry is limited. According to traders, the price of cotton in Mandis, Gujarat, fluctuates little.
