In April, US Clothing Imports Stagnated, Leading to A Significant Decrease in Imports to China

In April of this year, US clothing imports stagnated for the second consecutive month. Compared with the same period last year, import volume decreased by 0.5% year-on-year, and in March, it only increased by 0.8% year-on-year. Import volume decreased by 2.8% year-on-year, and in March, it decreased by 5.9% year-on-year.

In April, the United States saw a significant decline in its clothing imports to China, with imports and imports decreasing by 15.5% and 16.7% year-on-year, respectively. On the contrary, the United States saw a year-on-year increase of 6.6% and 1.2% in clothing imports from other sources, respectively.

In April, the unit price of Chinese clothing continued to decline slightly for the second consecutive month. From August 2023 to February 2024, the unit price of Chinese clothing continued to decline significantly. At the same time, in April, the unit price of clothing imports from other regions in the United States decreased by 5.1%, with a slight decrease.
