After nearly a week of hot weather in Pakistan’s main cotton producing area, there was rainfall in the northern cotton area on Sunday, and the temperature slightly eased. However, the highest daytime temperature in most cotton areas remains between 30-40 ℃, and it is expected that hot and dry weather will continue this week, with local rainfall expected.
At present, the planting of new cotton in Pakistan has been basically completed, and the planting area of new cotton is expected to exceed 2.5 million hectares. The local government pays more attention to the new year’s cotton seedling situation. Based on the recent situation, the cotton plants have grown well and have not yet been affected by pests. With the gradual arrival of monsoon rainfall, cotton plants are gradually entering a critical growth period, and subsequent weather conditions still need to be monitored.
Local private institutions have good expectations for the new year’s cotton production, which currently ranges from 1.32 to 1.47 million tons. Some institutions have given higher predictions. Recently, seed cotton from early sowing cotton fields has been delivered to ginning plants, but the quality of new cotton has declined after the rain in southern Sindh. It is expected that the listing of new cotton will slow down before the Eid al-Adha Festival. It is expected that the number of new cotton will increase significantly next week, and the price of seed cotton will still face downward pressure. Currently, based on quality differences, the purchase price of seed cotton ranges from 7000 to 8500 rupees/40 kilograms.
