The cotton yarn in northern India was not affected by the 2023/24 federal budget announced yesterday. Traders said that there was no major announcement in the textile industry budget and called the government measures long-term measures, which would not affect the yarn price. Due to the general demand, the cotton yarn price remains stable today.
In Delhi, the cotton yarn price has not changed since the budget was announced. A trader in Delhi said: “There are no provisions in the budget that have a direct impact on the yarn market. The Indian Finance Minister announced a special plan for ultra-long cotton wool (ELS). But it will take several years to have an impact on the price and dynamics of cotton yarn.”
According to TexPro, the market insight tool of Fibre2Fashion, in Delhi, the price of 30 counts of combed yarn is 280-285 rupees per kilogram (extra consumption tax), 40 counts of combed yarn is 310-315 rupees per kilogram, 30 counts of combed yarn is 255-260 rupees per kilogram, and 40 counts of combed yarn is 280-285 rupees per kilogram.
Since the last week of January, the price of Ludiana cotton yarn has remained stable. Due to the downturn trend of the value chain, the demand is general. A trader from Ludiana said that the buyer was not interested in the new transaction. If the price falls after the arrival quantity increases, it may attract buyers to conduct new transactions. In Ludinana, the price of 30 combed yarns is 280-290 rupees per kilogram (including consumption tax), 20 and 25 combed yarns are 270-280 rupees per kilogram and 275-285 rupees per kilogram. According to the data of TexPro, the price of 30 pieces of combed yarn is stable at 260-270 rupees per kilogram.
Due to seasonal impact, consumer purchase has not improved, and Panipat recycled yarn has remained stable.
The transaction price of 10 recycled yarn (white) is Rs. 88-90 per kg (GST extra), 10 recycled yarn (color – high quality) is Rs. 105-110 per kg, 10 recycled yarn (color – low quality) is Rs. 80-85 per kg, 20 recycled PC color (high quality) is Rs. 110-115 per kg, 30 recycled PC color (high quality) is Rs. 145-150 per kg, and 10 optical yarn is Rs. 100-110 per kg.
The price of combed cotton is 150-155 rupees per kilogram. Recycled polyester fiber (PET bottle fiber) 82-84 rupees per kilogram.
North India’s cotton trade is also largely unaffected by budget provisions. The arrival quantity is average and the price is stable.
According to traders, the arrival quantity of cotton has been reduced to 11500 bags (170 kg per bag), but if the weather remains sunny, the arrival quantity may increase in the next few days.
