Vietnam’s Textile And Clothing Exports Decreased By 18% From January To April

From January to April 2023, Vietnam’s textile and clothing exports decreased by 18.1% to $9.72 billion. In April 2023, Vietnam’s textile and clothing exports decreased by 3.3% from the previous month to $2.54 billion.

From January to April 2023, Vietnam’s yarn exports decreased by 32.9% compared to the same period last year, to $1297.751 million. In terms of quantity, Vietnam exported 518035 tons of yarn, a decrease of 11.7% compared to the same period last year.

In April 2023, Vietnam’s yarn exports decreased by 5.2% to $356.713 million, while yarn exports decreased by 4.7% to 144166 tons.

In the first four months of this year, the United States accounted for 42.89% of Vietnam’s total textile and clothing exports, totaling $4.159 billion. Japan and South Korea are also major export destinations, with exports of $11294.41 billion and $9904.07 billion, respectively.

In 2022, Vietnam’s textile and clothing exports increased by 14.7% year-on-year, reaching $37.5 billion, below the target of $43 billion. In 2021, Vietnam’s textile and clothing exports reached 32.75 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 9.9%. The export of yarn in 2022 increased by 50.1% from $3.736 billion in 2020, reaching $5.609 billion.

According to data from the Vietnam Textile and Clothing Association (VITAS), with a positive market situation, Vietnam has set an export target of $48 billion for textiles, clothing, and yarn in 2023.
